Default plastic cover under engine

Hello,

I have a 1999 Audi A4 Avant 2.8 liter. The plastic underbody cover under the engine has pulled away from the mounts and I want to just remove it all together. Other than protecting from crap getting flung up from the road, is there any other purpose for this cover? ie, cooling maybe? What are the dangers if I don't have the cover there?

Thanks!

Andrew

other than the protection it provides it also helps with wind velocity. its part of the areodymaic design. but thats pretty much it. i doubt you would see any difference in fuel econemy but its a possibility. and if its windy outside you might see some more loss of stability

The car is heavy enough that you will never feel any difference.
I had to remove mine on my 97 A4 and never missed it! If anything it makes changing the oil easier!
