Please Help a Newb
Aloha,
I have a 1999 Audi Quatro. A couple of weeks ago I started my car and while idling I can hear a knocking/ping sound (like shaking a paint can) from the engine (more so underneath the car). Although the engine is running when I push on the gas in nuetral or in gear the car begins to shake and the noise gets louder. I changed my oil and filter and BAM, it was running fine. Another week passes by and the same problem occured. I checked my oil level and it was right in the middle. I decided to put another quart in and BAM, it was running fine again. A week goes by and same problem. I cannot put more oil in my car, its at max level. What could be causing this, and is there any correlation between the oil and the problem or is it just chance? Also, the problem seems to occur after I park in my driveway of which is slanted upward at about 55degrees.
Any suggestions or tips? I was hoping to be able to resolve this without spending a lot of money I don't have at a mechanics shop.
Thank you in advance,
Mahalo,
-Mike
