hi im from hawaii and looking into buying an automatic 97 audi a4 1.8 t quattro for a bout $2500 from this guy and i didnt get a chance to see it but he said that the car is good and everything except that when you start the car and drive it makes a loud sound he said that its the power steering motor..
but how easy is it to fix or can i just remove it and have a non power steering car?

i was also looking into getting a 95 audi a4

im a noob to audis im a honda guy...so any help would be great thanks

 

if its making a sound it may be just that the fluid is old, drain as much of it out as you can then get some pentosin 11s power steering fluid and see if it quiets down the pump.

 

If the steering rack needs replacement, be prepared to spend
$1,000 for a remanufactured one.

 

it is bad idea. how about the power steering fluid?
