question about maf sensor?!?!

Default question about maf sensor?!?!

I was just wondering befor i have to buy a new maf sensor how to tell for sure if its the problem are it is shot. i get really bad gas milage and the car when its cold and i first start it up will have trouble finding idle but then after that it idles fine. when i get on the gas the cluster says normally 8mpg and it will have good pick up then let off then good pick up again. anyone else have this problem b4. the check engien lights is on it says mass air flow signal too low. the car is 2000 a4 1.8t all help is Appreciated!!

If you have p0102, it is probably bad.

yeah, usually when a code sets for a component malfunction, it is bad.. you need to check for vacuum leaks, that could cause a maf code because its job is to determine the amount of air coming into the car, so if you have a leak it could possibly be judged as a improper reading of air coming in through the air filter...
