I just replaced the battery in my 1999 A8 4.2 and now the radio displays "SAFE"
I serched and found I need some code to unlock it? Where do I get the code? How do I input it? I bought the car used and don't have to owners manual.......Help!.....the wife is going to kill me if I don't fix it!

You'll have to get the code from a dealer.

 

p.s the dealer is probably gonna want the radio's serial number & your vin. don't let them charge u 50 bucks to pull your radio to get the serial number off the side of it, i looked around online for the 4 audi keys to pull the radio and the best price was ZDMAK.com. I got a whole set of ALL German car radio keys for i think like $25. I was alil skeptical about their website but i got the keys within a few days.

 

Thanks for the tips........I heard there was a code in the trunk next to the spare tire, I found a 4 digit number.......I'll see if that works.

No the code I found in the trunk did not work.........Will keep you posted if I find a working code
