hey i have a 2000 audi a4 2.8 quattro which is manuel. i was driving it on a really shitty road and the car bottomed out. i was not even going 10 mph on the road but it was on a hill. right after it hit, there was a really loud noise that kept coming from the car when i was in gear but not pressing on the gas. when i press the gas the noise goes away. when i am in neutral and i gas it there is no difference in the sound. what could this be?

 

the exhaust got bent or a hanger grommet ripped.

 

Your going to just have to jack it up and look under it, then come back with your notes from what you saw that looked wrong. But, does it sound like a rattle? exhaust leak?

 

i dont think its an exhaust leak because it would make the noise always wouldnt it? the weird thing is that the noise pretty much went away. it only came back once for half a second while i was shifting and letting go of the clutch pedal. when it first happened my my friend said the clutch went bad but i put in a spec stage 1 clutch in like 10k miles ago so it cant be that.

 

i noticed today that when i am in 2nd gear or 3rd gear and i let the clutch out too fast without giving it gas it makes the same noise
