OK so my daughter just bought a 64 plate A1 1.6tdi,
On the way home the front drivers side indicator stopped working, the rear and mirror indicator still works,
I got a new bulb from halfords fitted it still not working, the multimeter came out and there is power getting to the plug, continuity test on the bulb said dud bulb, got another bulb still not working, checked bulb with battery and the bulb works but still no front right indicator, checked the old bulb with battery and it doesn't work,
Took the bulb from the left and it works in the right indicator, put the new bulb in the left and it doesn't work, went and got 3rd new bulb from halfords and still no front indicator but the bulb works on a battery.
All of this makes no sense at all, the one working bulb in the car works on both sides but the new bulbs that work on a battery don't work in the car on either side.
Am I missing something?
I'm hoping someone on here can shed some light this situation, I've been a mechanic for over 30 years and never known anything like this before
