Throttle Body Lower Limit Not attained
Hey guys, i am fairly new to the audi scene and have a pretty nice beginner A4 and have run into a bit of a problem. To start off i'll let you know how it came to be. My 1998 1.8T A4 i purchased from a good friend and car was running fine, the car had about 145k but with a rebuilt 1.8T. He had a GIAC ECU and Chip installed as well as a neuspeed exhaust and downpipe, as well as some sway bars and Neuspeed springs. One day the car started to just shake, i took it into a friend who works for AAMCO because he does my diagnostics for free (and i know already some of you are thinking why aamco?) any way they checked the coils and spark plugs for a misfire nothing, then after compression testing and everything else that turned out to be ok they found that the Ignition Control Module was misfiring. It had a stock Bosch one but he gave me pretty much a steal for a replacement one compatible but it is made by Hitachi. Now after installing the new ICM the car was back to running smoothly but m dash was totally blank. I took it back to them and after some more testing and me telling him the car had a chip, they called the motorsports company that put the chip in they got the ECU codes and had my dash and tach back to normal. Now upon that they saw the check engine light would not go away. and the codes the scanner keeps bringing back is the lower limit not attained by the throttle body. So now Aamco AND Group 5 Motorsports (Who installed the chip and VAG scanned the throttle body) both have said i need a new throttle body. Could the codes not be reading right and causing the throttle body to not connect correctly with the ECU due to the HITACHI ignition control module since it was not a Bosch one which the ECU and the chip where originally installed with. If anyone has any input i would greatly appreciate it. I am in the process of looking for a replacement throttle body and it is proving quite difficult but if you guys think the ignition control module could be the problem it would save me close to 300$.
Thanks again for helping a newbie.
