Default Transmission control module

so i have a '02 A4 1.8T with about 58k miles on it and i just found out i need a new TCM. Thankfully its under extended warranty so it'll only cost me $50(+about 3 weeks of wait for one to be shipped) but i was wondering how common this problem is with Audis and if i should be worried about chronic problems afterwards. It seems like the car is always in for general service and although its not costing much it's still a hassle.

Thanks in advance for any responses
