Default tt 1.8 crankseal installation help

This weekend im doing my timing belt and I have a small oil leak on the right side, probably crankseal. So I got a new crank seal with my "plus extra" kit from mjm autohaus. Anything to the crankseal? I cant find info. Are they hard to get out? Is there room to get the pully off with a puller or is it to tight? Thanks

Extremely hard to pull out, and i really wouldn't mess with it un-less you have the exact special tool from pulling it out and if its leaking something fierce. Luckily enough 98% of the time that seal never leaks, more than likely its just a VC (valve cover) leak. Is there oil coming from the front side of the engine where the timing belt is?

ah ok, ill see if i can get the tool if it is leaking, I should be able to see better where the leak is from when i get it all torn aparn. The oil is on the right side where the timing belt is but doesnt apear to be any on the front. Thanks for the input! I definatly wont mess with it if it isn't leaking.

If you're leaking from the back of the motor then i would also suspect the cam adjuster seal, it looks like a little half moon seal thats under the tensioner. Its a little harder to replace than the VC gasket but if you're gonna change the VC gasket you might as well change the cam adjuster seal too. That seal is only like $15.

well I took enough stuff off including the timing belt cover thing to see the leak is not coming from anywhere near the valve cover gasket or the cam so time to start tearing... fun fun

Well it wasn't either of the seals we guessed, but I really appreachiate your input. It appears my cam seal wasnt set right from factory? I dont know, I took some pics of it. It just sucks while taking the bolt out it turned it slightly back from top dead center so now I gotta screw with that but could be worse I guess.

Anyhow not the one with the cam gear, but to the right with the cover with the connection on appeared to have some oil dripping out so I took that off to find a few peices of broken plastic with the seal partway out, I really don't know what happened, but I guess to fix it, 2 self tapping screws to pull it out? Then put the new one in and tap it in w/ a socket?

disregard, i just popped it out from the point it was sticking out, then used a 34mm socket with a headbolt going through it to draw it in snug after lubing it with oil
