TT Entire body squeak
I bought my 2001 Audi TT quattro convertible a few months ago with 30,000 miles - but it had been sitting almost idle for over a year. Every time I go over a rise in the road the entire chassis squeaks. My mechanic inspected everything (and claimed he lubed everything) and replaced the serpentine belt, but the squeaks continue. The car is perfect, except for the squeaks - any ideas? Thanks
Rubber bushings tend to dry out and come loose, and then they squeak as they move about their pivots. Bushings are not supposed to move about, but allow movement by flexing. As a rule bushings are not to be lubed as it induces slippage, so most likely your mechanic did not lube them. Howvever, squirting WD40 on one bushing at the time and driving around till the squaking stops is a good way of finding out the culprit. There is also a good chance that the squeaking will go away after driving a few thousand miles
