Vag Com: question about trial version
I bought a $15 interface cable from Amazon and finally got VCDS lite working, but fault scans only get performed for 3 areas (Engine, Auto Trans and ABS brakes).
Question for Vag Com users: do most of you just use the trial version to get the general engine fault data or are you using the registered version to get even more data and features?
Is there a thread someone can point me to that is an equivalent to Vag Com 101? I'm troubleshooting a cyl 1 misfire problem as well as a stuck shifter problem. So far, the failure data is pretty cut and dried: cyl 1 misfire and parking light switch failure.
Thanks for your time.
edit: I have a 1998 A4. 2.8L 5V.

never used the lite version. I have a ross-tech cable so I automatically have a registered version of the software. I use it for trouble shooting but mostly for clearing codes. I know a lot of people have no problem just using the lite version for all of their repair needs. The Ross-Tech website has a TON of information about how to get the most out of the software. Most of it is beyond what I have had need to do but I've been able to answer all of my questions, and a lot of other people's questions, there.
good luck
