Valve Cover, replcement??

Greetings fellow Audi owners, this is my first post so pls. bare with me if I make any mistakes. I own an 07 A8L 4.2 Quattro w/103k miles and need to replace the valve cover gaskets. Is it true the drivers side bank valve cover needs to be replaced along with the gaskets? If possible please explain why, thank you in advance looking forward to enjoying the knowledge and friendship of the members of this forum
