Default Burned Catalytic Converter

Hey guys one of my catalytic converters started to rattle when i drive and accelerate. Lots of people said check the heat shield because thats the common problem but its not that. It appears that one of the CC's burned inside and not pieces rattle when i drive. Now my question is.... Is it possible to get those broken inside pieces out and still be able to drive? If yes what would be the difference in noise???

I have the same problem on my 97 2.8. I plan on having the cat gutted and see how it sounds. It should sound good with a stock muffler. If it goes well I'll gut the other as well.
