Chrome exhaust end pipe for Audi S3
Hi, thanks for reading. I have an unmodified Audi S3 2017. The very ends of my exhaust system (the nice chrome oval part) have started to corrode / have become pitted (lots of tiny bubbles).
I have used a Brillo pad and silver Polish (Autosol) to clean them up. They look okay from a distance but the pitting remains and is becoming more noticeable.
The oval ends look like they are firmly attached to the actual exhaust pipe. I have looked inside with a torch and it is one continuous pipe right to the end. The Oval tip is obviously some sort of additional attachment that goes over the end of the exhaust pipe.
Apparently this pitting / corroding on the ends is quite common.
I was hoping someone on here could tell me whether these oval ends can be removed and replaced with new ones?
In other words, do these tips that make the ends of the exhaust look nicer actually come off or are they welded on?
The outside dimension of each oval end is 75mm high and 90mm wide.
When I looked inside the exhaust with the torch it is not oval but round which again makes me think these oval attachments have been put on to the ends.
