Default Exhaust diameter

So this is the piece i need to replace. I was thinking if i could figure out the diameter of everything, i could just buy a generic piece of flex pipe and weld it in. Anyone know the diameter of the pipe on this piece.

It is a 1998 1.8T engine.

Thanks in advance.

I have an 02 1.8 and mine did the same thing.. Mine is around 2.125". I bought a universal flex pipe and fittingss at a local parts store and replaced mine. It cost me $35. It wasn't hard to do, I have my own welder. I guess it just comes down to the money.. It's not a large difference, but you could save a few bucks doing it yourself. If I were you, I'd just get the piece you have listed.
