ive been looking around i think im going to do a 2.5" downpipe with 2.5"piping to a magnaflow 14862 or 14805 the 862 is 3" tips the 805 it 3.5"

 

I like the bottom one. I didnt get tips like that for mine. I managed to find black ones, because I never saw a black on black Audi with black tips. Theyre always chrome.

 

magnaflow makes them with different tips? or you bought black tips?

 

heh-heh, no. nobody makes mufflers for our cars with black tips. i actually spent quite some time looking for the right tip. mine look stock too. theyre just wider in diameter. theyre shaped the same and have the same cut off angle. 95% of the ppl dont even notice them because of how subtle they are and how well they blend in. i found them on ebay. the package said that theyre from a BMW suv, i think the X5, but i never saw an X5 with those tops before. I can snap some pics of what it looks like if u want.

 

Are they just tips or a muffler.. I want a full exhaust but I don't want to spend 800 on borla or awe, I want custom magnaflow I think... What you running and how loud and how much drone? And yes pics would be cool

 

i have straight pipe back then magnaflow muffler my exhaust is really loud im actually thinking about getting some quieter because it attracks so much attention which can be good sometimes but not others your decision dude.

Is it practical to modify a down pipe with a cutout that's able to be opened and closed?

 

you dont really need to modify the downpipe. you could do it right after the downpipe at the felxpipe, eitherway it will be really effin loud

 

It would just be something for the track. Would a mod like that give me more HP gains than a high flow turbo-back exaust? If so, what would be the best way to modify it?
