Many thanks to any and all replies.
pioneer avic d3 can only work with BOSE vehicle.
Why don't you choose an aftermarket head unit which can work with Bose or Non-bose vehicle?
audi a4 s4 rs4 dvd player w/ gps navigation system
This unit has 1GHz CPU, 512MB RAM, it can even support HD video(1080P). Totally plug and play.

Aftermarket head unit is totally plug and play, no need a code or anything else. All the accessories will be included in the package, such as power adapter harness, audio cable, video cable, maps card with your country map(upgradeable), GPS antenna, radio adapter etc. Even the four removal tools will be included.

It was the same style that your talking about, a single hole with a cubby pocket underneath it. All you have to do is slice out the center piece that forms the two pockets. Then you can have a double din stereo. Ill post some pics of my stereo, although I ended up going with an Alpine deck. Great job as a salesman to convince me to change my pick =)
did your alpine unit work well with the steering wheel controls?
