home made shift knob

so i decided to attempt and make my own shift knob. i used some scrap aluminum laying around, melted it down. then i got an empty paint can and cut it open. put some fireclay in with a double shot shot glass as the basic mold and once it was dry i poured the aluminum in.

since i have no lathe, i rigged up my drill press with a dremel as the cutter and drilled and threaded a rod into the mold so i could turn it with the drill press.
I used duplicolor graphite wheel paint and vht engine coat clear coat enamel as the paint. then baked the knob in the oven.
heres a pic of finished knob.
