Kyle, Are you going to go up and get the pre-cats gutted? I just want to know how it turns out because I'm still considering VAST. Also Are coilovers even worth it? I like the idea of being able to raise it up and slam it, but how often are you going to acutally do it? I am fairly certian I'm just going to get Shocks/springs from AWE.
With some coilovers you can also change the dampering, but the cheaperst that they come are about $950 if you want to do that. I mainly want them because I want my car slammed for most of the year, then raise it a little in the winter. I might just go with Tein Basics that are about $750 and don't have adjustable damper - only ride height.
Iwill eventually get them gutted. Why do you want to go with VAST? They give you the same product (if they even have any to sell you, remember, its usually one in and one out with that product) HTPcan for more money and you have to go through the trouble of sending your old ones to them. And depending on the condition of your cats, they might not even send you the core charge back, then youll end up paying like $700 as opposed to $200!! I would definatly go with HTP, theyre closer, cheaper, and you know people who know the owner matt which can help. Ill let you know when and how they turn out.
As for coilovers, kolby has the idea. You normally wont need to change the height or dampering unless your tracking the car. Im considering coilovers for the same reason kolby is... Slammed in summer, raised in winter. Its just more conveinient for different senarios. If you dont want the slammed look and are satisfyed with just and inch or so drop, then just do shocks and springs. MUCH cheaper but still looks good.

Here ya go Kolby, and anyone who is interested in good, cheap coilovers. This is what im looking at.

I've heard good things about Stasis, but they're really nothing more than Konis that have been tuned to work best on Audis. Konis can be bought for $950 and have all the same adjustability, then dialed in to Stasis specs.
This is all stuff that I've been told through the forum, but keep in mind that most of it was told to me by a guy who runs Stasis on his car.

Here's the PM I received:

The STaSIS are exactly the same, the only difference is STaSIS buys, tunes, and resells the Konis, in the same Koni box. What STaSIS Engineering doesis bench test or road/track test the Konisto find thebest handling/performace/ride height settings for our Audi. STaSIS also adds the nylon washer that separates the coilsprings from the adjustable spring perch, which is supposed to reduce turning friction to make the height adjustments easier when they are installed. Then theyestablish theirride height anddampening adjustments to the shocks for that"ideal" performance setting, and ship them to their resellers.

The only reason I am even considering doing VAST is the relocated o2 senors. I am planning on going to HTP after I get the emissions done, just in case. And thoes coilovers look nice. I like the Idea of coilovers, they make sense. I just want to know if you get a CEL when you get them. Since we have the same downpies I just figured out. Anway I plan on going to HTP within the next 3 weeks, but if you go before let us know how they turn out.
Oh As for COILOVERS I deffinatly think they are a good Idea for the A4's, but the cheapest for the A6 I have found is $1300 or so which is alot compared to $700 for shocks/springs
