Great. That's good to know. After reading some of these posts, I was thinking that I may need to get one also.

Sounds like you blew somthing in the drive train, but it could be a few things. Have you looked under the car while having someone put it in drive to see if the axles even move? (obviously you want to look from the side of the car )Place this into the A4 section if you have not already, that will get you alot of help.

Is this a manual or auto?

Where you playing when that happened? If its not moving at all I would say your trans is shot because the rear should still push you, since you are quattro. BUT that's just a guess and im no expert on how that works. I could see if I can find this guys number my friend referred me to if I ever wanted trans work done. He used to bea pro mechanic on a race team and is excellent with trans work. (a bit pricey though)

You really need to get that car off the ground and inspect. If the axle snapped it wont spin when trying to drive but same goes for a blown trans. However if the trans is shot I dont think you would be able to get it in gear and you would feel that something is deff. wrong with the way it feels.

Another situation is the transfer case has gone by by, leaving you sitting dead in the water. What is the condition of your tires? Have you replaced any?
