$25k used car... S4?
I will be looking for a car this summer to drive to college next year. I drove a g35x in high school and liked it well
enough, but it was an auto and had somewhat finicky handling.
I go to school in Maine, so awd would be nice, but I probably will never drive it in the snow.
It will essentially be to make runs into town probably once a week, drive from washington dc to maine
and back around twice a year, and drive to ski once a week.
The car must be stick, fun to drive and definitely not fwd.
I would like for anyone with experience with this list to comment on performance (I plan on some auto-x and
track in the summer), reliability and any other salient details.
Here are some of the models I'm considering, in no particular order:
BMW e36 M3, e46 M3, e39 M5, or possibly a 330i
Audi B5 s4 (turbo)(2000-2002) or s4 (2004-current)
Subaru WRX (not current model) or Sti
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo
Infiniti g35 6mt (2003-2006)
The BMW's and Audi worry me about reliability, but aside from that would probably be my first choices.
The awd on Audi is a plus. The audis have awd which is huge and I have liked driving a4's in the past, but I would
like more power. The B5 is especially interesting because it is a turbo, but it is a fairly old car.
I would like any relevant info on any of these cars and how reliable and fun they would be.
The subarus and mitsubishi's would be fun, have awd,
but are probably not as comfortable for a long ride. The infiniti is rwd, but they seem to be reliable.
I would like to stay as far below 25k as
possible and I am open to other suggestions as well.
Thanks for the help.
