Default 1.8t a4 owner from New Mexico!

Hello everyone,a week ago I bought a used 2001 audi a4 for about 6k. I figured it was a good deal so I went for it. Now I find myself kinda nervous as the matinence books haven't been stamped, and the mileage is at 86k. I recently read about the sludge issues, and now I am really worried. I am going in for my first oil change since purchase, and I am going to use some VW approved oil, and have it done at a shop. I am going to keep the reciept and try to turn this car around.

The car is Pellican Blue Metallic, and it is in really good condition. Runs smooth .

A couple of questions remain;

What oil filter do I purchase? I have read to avoid fram.

Where do I go from here in terms of matinence since my books are clean of stamps : /?

I dunno if I am stupid for trying to turn this car around from what it would seem a bad purchase, but I guess we will see in time.

welcome, I go out to NM every so often to camp, it's beautiful out there once you get into the Rockies.

Also I love Perlican Blue

as for your questions:
1)Mahl makes a good filter for our cars.
2) find a reputable Euro shop around town and use them, the dealer is not cheap
3) At 86K you should look into getting your Timing belt job done.

welcome to the AF
