A4/S4 lover, but new to the purchase
Hey,
so i am obviously new to this forum, or really to any forum. i dont post much for the sake of wasting a lot of peoples time with my ramblings.
basically i am a hot rod /custom car guy. in the sense that i like early fords like model a and '32 ford roadsters and ear;y pre and post war customs the most. it is actually my passion and my career as i work for The Rodder's Journal a quarterly publication. blah, blah, blah.
anyway, after driving $500.00 daily driver piles for most of my life, i'd really like to get something a wee bit nicer.
a buddy of mine had an '01 S4...in '01/'02 and we had huge amounts of fun in it. i kind of feel sorry for whoever got that car after him, because we ran it hard. but it sparked a huge passion for Audi's ever since.
now i am in "somewhat" of a financial point where i can buy an audi in the $5,0000 price range. i'm looking at one tomorrow with hopes it is a good car and i can do a finance deal. but, i wanted to jump on here and get a look at your opinions and suggestions etc. of the goods/bads of these cars. i can talk to you all day long about a 1932 Ford, but when it comes to an Audi, i only know to check the oil etc.
so anyway, glad to be a part of this, hopefully you guys like where i'm headed and can offer up some good advice (other than "**** off, old car guy")
cheers,
geoff

read the posts and you'll get the gist of it. make sure the timing belt was done when it was suppose to be. control arms are another big expense and basically just check over all maintenance records. oh and, f**k off old car guy lol.
