Hello everyone!

I got my 2000 A4 (Quattro, 2.8) back in 2006 and promptly wired in an Aux-in for the stereo (mp3's for the win, as they say). One financial roller coaster later, i'm finally getting ready to start really mucking with it.

This car makes me happy. I'm a major computer nerd, but i'm new to car work (although i managed to safely take the door apart when the window motor kasploded). I'm making all kinds of plans for this puppy, everything from a carputer to replacing interior lights and maybe even some performance stuff. It looks like i've found (thanks, google) the place to help me make them happen. You all will help, right?

I'll be on here quite a bit looking for advice. Until then, however, i just wanted to say "Hello everybody!" and "How are ya?"

Well, I'm probably gonna start simple (read, "cheap") and do some easy cosmetic stuff. I'm thinking of replacing the interior lights with something pure white (only recently started looking for stuff like that). I'm eyeing interior trim as well. Also, I'd like to replace all the red lights inside, but i don't know the process on that yet; it looks like the lights are embedded in the switches.

I'm wanting to replace the stock radio with a computer. I'm experienced with mini-ITX and case modifications, so i'd like to squeeze a computer, and motorized touchscreen in place of the stock unit. I've been researching this particular aspect for a while, and think i have a decent handle on that.

I plan on researching a ECU upgrade as i get more budget in that direction. Just had some drive shaft work done and CVs replaced, budget is small currently.

I also have some repairs that need to be done. I need to get the gauge cluster LCD fixed, but that sounds like quite the PITA (admittedly from little research). I'm looking to get a replacement on the front fender, some jerk didn't know how to parallel park without sideswiping.

So yeah, clearly my goals aren't quite performance minded, but it's my understanding that i've fewer options for performance upgrades on the 2.8. I'm mostly interested in customizing the interior and exterior. I really enjoy the car and can't wait to get in there and do stuff to it. Who knows, i might do the ECU and start craving more performance...
