Can someone help me understand the difference between a B5 and B6?

I have a 2001 1.8T Quattro with Tip

 

B5 = 1995 -2001




B6 = 2002-2004



The B6 is based on a different platform than the B5. Aside from the cosmetic difference the B6 1.8t has 20 more hp than the B5 (except 2001 my). Many of us are partial to the older B5 and it's smooth lines, while other's like the updated B6 as it is "new".

The B6 is about to become old news as the B7 becomes the new current model:
