Hi everyone,
Just bought my first Audi, a 1996 registered model 80 2.6 V6 RWD Estate. 138,000KM. Ex Japanese secondhand import.
I think this is actually a 1995 A4
Got it at a reasonable price so expected some defects to correct. Firstly trying to find technical data, workshop manuals etc has proven difficult for this engine variant so I would appreciate some assistance here.
Secondly, and alarmingly, when braking from above 100kph I get massive front wheel shaking felt through the steering wheel, sort of like ABS but not balanced across the front wheels.
Thirdly both front and back left hand side electric windows are imobile, no motor noise, just don't work. I can't find a fuse or relay but I suspect all windows are fed from same fuse and relay and as the driver side windows work okay..........
And fourthly I suspect that it is stuck in sports mode as the rpm shows 4,000 when doing 100kph. I would suggest that around 3000rpm at this speed would be expected. I think the trans should be 4 speed but can only detect 3 auto changes...
Apart from the above the car drives very nicely ( and quietly ). I was looking at an X300 XJ6 but opted for this.
Appreciate some guidance from seasoned Audi owners.
