Hello all. I am new to this forum and I am seriously considering buying an A4 1.8T. As of now, I have narrowed it down to two cars. Both are 2001 1.8Ts with about 75k, automatic transmissions and all the bells and whistles. I am a very experienced mechanic and am more familiar with domestic auto's. I want to know what things I should look for when purchasing an A4. What are common problems with these cars and what should I stay away from. Also, what noises should I pay attention to when listening to the engine idle and during my test drive. ANY help would be much appreciated! I dont want to buy a lemon! Thanks a ton!

Is it from an Audi dealer? We just got an extended warranty on timing belts (main concern) for 99-03 1.8ts so you might want to ask about that. CV joints, control arms and ignition coils are common issues apart from routine maintenaince.
