Smile Guten Tag!

Hello,

As a new member to Audi and this forum, I have already learned a great deal about general
abbreviated terms and vocabulary as well as my car from the very "user friendly" forum you have here.
Up until 2 weeks ago, I was an "Old School" classic car owner of a variety of cars from the mid to
late 60s and early 70s. As far as my daily drivers, I've owned Volkswagens' for over 30 years.

So my recent purchase of a 2001 Audi TT Quattro Roadster has replaced my desire to fix or repair
daily my old cars to (from what I've read recently), to fix or repair (hopefully not daily) of my
soon to be "Classic" Audi.

I fell in love with this car when it was first introduced and thought of the day when I could actually
own one. I've done some research (after the fact) about the car and awaiting the arrival of my
Bentley in the mail.

I can't say that I'm overly excited about the potentially mind numbing problems with this car,
hopefully the previous owner to care of the ole' girl, but we shall see. Still, I can't wait to get her
out on the road. She's going in for the once over at my local dealer, getting a LOF, check to see if
the timing belt and water pump were changed as told but with no written proof and on Saturday,
getting a new set of shoes. This will be my late spring, summer and early fall "Driver" and stored for the
winter.

I'm looking forward to the camaraderie and the new friendships to be started here on the
Audi FORUMS and hope to be able to contribute in the weeks to come.

Have a good one!

Rudy

Default Re:

Greetings!

It's been my contention that to start history with a car, I need something to start with.
As I said in my first post, I was going to have (and I did) my local dealer look the car over with a fine tooth comb,
the oil was fairly clean but, I didn't want to take any chances.

So after my synthetic oil change, new oil filter and after reading many opinions from various forums and speaking with
other car enthusiasts, I put in my first ever K&N air filter. The service technician thought the 90,000 mile service was
performed, replacing the timing belt, rollers, tensioners and hopefully the water pump (tucked in to know for sure) was
replaced.

On Saturday, my new tires were installed and oh my gosh, the car feels like a "Night and Day" difference.

There are a few things the car needs but nothing earth shattering. I can wait until spring to take care of them since the
car will be parked in the fall. I plan on purchasing a "Zip and Seal" bag for her, put some desiccant bags in the interior,
fill the tank, run staybil through the fuel system and pull the battery.

Also, place dryer sheets around the perimeter of the car. Now this is what I have done in the past for my older classics,
is there a problem with doing this for a much newer car? Again, I'm still looking forward to the camaraderie however,
after seeing 100 views and no posts, I hope someone speaks up and posts!

Regards,

Rudy

Looks like you've got a pretty good plan, there.

I'd be willinig to bet that, were you to post this in the TT section, you'd have more than a handful of peeps sharing tips and tactics. Try that!
