Hi everyone. I am about to purchase a 96 a4 quattro 2.8. But I was just browsing through the forum and it seems like there isn't much out there as far as performance is concerned. The car has 100K on it and in good condition im getting it for 5K. Should i pass? I really only want to do basic upgrades for now (intake, exhaust, chip, and headers). What do you guys think? Hey welcome to the forum. The 96 2.8 really isn't a performance ready engine. There are very few mods available. The 1.8t is the engine you want if you need to modify.

 

If you got a little xtra $$$ i'd buy a slightly newer 1.8 turbo if your going to do it up that is but just for cruising around the 2.8 would be fine

rauntu, where are you from? prices vary by thousands of dollars depending on where you look...you may be able to save a grand or more just by taking a 3-4 hour drive down the road

 

I live in honolulu hawaii. So i am limited in that aspect, i looked on ebay, autotrader, and cars.com saw some good deals but shipping is around $2000.
