Hey forum...new here, just got a '00 S4
Hello,
I've been reading posts here for a while cause I wanted a S4. I finally found one I could afford. I think it's been through some rough times but worth getting back in form.
Carfax showed it got a salvage/rebuilt title when only 1500 mi on odo. Odometer says 33K, and the black interior is almost new looking. Black exteriorand got a badre-paint on some partsbut still looksreal good from 10 feet. It vibrates a little on the highwy, and is sort of a dog starting from a dead stop, but runs pretty strong once spooled up. Transmission clunks sometimes when shifting to Drive (Tip), but it changes gears smoothly and the Tip works fine.Brakes seem very sensitive to me, coming from a 1990 Accord. The sort-of-sticky pedal goes down an inch or sobefore anything happens, then the brakes suddenly and strongly engage. Also I think a CV joint is going.
My first goal is to get the engine tuned to where it should be. I was thinking of finding a local shop (non dealer)that knows the model and can get it running right and check the frame. Then CV joints. Then wheel alignment and balance to get it running straight and smooth.
I'm sure I'll learn a lot from this forum that will help me with my S4, and look forward to sharing my experiences with others.
Thanks

Nice man, congrads. Sound like you have some work to do. It will all be woth it when you get that baby rinning 100%... I'm going to make my next car an S4... Where did you find the car? How many miles? How much $$??
I found the car in Autotrader. Seller was asking 9K but sold for 7K, plus I gave him my old car cause I had no way to get it home. Odometer says 33K and the condition of the interior supports that (almost like new). It must have been wrecked right after original owner got it, because carfax showsit got issued a salvage title and then a rebuilt title at around 1.5k miles, and it must have sat a couple of years.
