Default Hey Guys!

Hello! I just picked up my new baby. It's a B6, 1.8T with 15,000 Miles. It has 19" wheels with a votex body kit. The previous owner replaced the A4 nd 1.8T badge with all the S4 Emblems. I like the way it looks now, but would like to make some mods to the engine. It'sbone stock, exempt for the ITG filter. I was thinking of buying the APR Chip, but my major concern is the Warranty. I you guys have any suggestions for performance without the sacrifice of the void warranty let me know. If not you'll see me at my local audi dealer trying to befriend with the mechanics!

I'll try to post some pic's ASA i know my way around.

Welcome to Audi Forums Pops!

Since you're new... check out the START HERE! (click this link) link to get a rundown of the lingo/vocab here at audiforums.

Then be sure to search the archives when you have a question. Chances are the question has been asked before (probably several times) and the archives will have plenty of information to answer your question. If you still need answers, please feel free to ask questions.

Don't feel intimidated; we are all a bunch of pretty cool guys (and gals). Feel free to post advice, comments, ideas, suggestions, and even pics.
================================================== ==========================================

These questions are adressed in one way or another every day here at AF. A simple search in the archives will reveal a wealth of info on the related subjects.
Search for just the past 24 hours and you'll get several hits.

Don't worry about the chip and warranty issues - unless you are a paranoid conservative. Search the archives and see what others say on warranty and chips.

yeah, that's unfortunate he labeled the car an S4... that's about the riceyist thing you can do to a car.. especially on a bone stock engine, but very easy to fix

I have the Axis Supermesh. The front is 19x8.5, the rear are 19x9.5. Also, regarding the S4 emblems on the car...i tried taking them off, but it seems the previous owner glued it with crazy glue!!! Does anyone have any suggestions as of what to do! I don't want the paint to come off!

Thanks!

I hope he didn't use crazy glue. If it's typical adhesive, the way most of us de-badge is to use fishing line or dental floss (the floss will break occasionally, but it works). It takes quite a bit of time, but you use a sawing motion between the badge and the car. After the badge comes off, use Goo Gone or an equivalent to remove the residual. If there remains a stain on the paint, then use a high grade car polish (very fine) and gently buff out the stain. Don't forget to re-wax the area.

Imola, Imola, Imola... Tsk-tsk-tsk... You forgot to tell him to remove the badges, too!

Something else you might try, if you have the time, is to use a HIGH POWER hair dryer to loosen teh adhesive. Don't get too close or you run the risk of cooking (read bubbling) the paint. A steady back-and-forth motion from 3-5 inches away should loosen the adhisive suffifiently to allow easy removal with the floss=saw method after 30 minutes, or so. A heat gun would be faster AND more likely to bubble your paint if used incorrectly.

BTW, Pops, if the previous owner did, in fact, use crazy glue (try the other removal suggestions, FIRST, by all means), you could use a syringe or an eye-dropper to put a miniscule amount (say, a drop or two every couple of mm's along the top of teh badge where it meets the paint) of nail polish remover. wait a minute or two for the NPR to work it's magic, THEN go with the fishing line of floss-saw. You don't wanna use too much NPR because it WILL eat up your paint in heavier doses. Once you get the badge off, wipe the sopt with a clean cloth, then refer to Imola's aftercare instructions. Nail polish remover is the most gentle product I know that dissolves crazy glue. But, REMEMBER, only resort to this IF all else fails and you're convinced it's actually crazy glue holding the emblem on.

Hey thanks alot. I will do this today. Yes it's actually crazy glue, the guy just told me he had it done like that in order for it to not get stolen! (he said they had stolen one already). Can you believe that crap! It seems some of clconversion anti-ricest friend paid him a visit when they saw the car was not an actual S4 [8D].
