Introduction and hopefully getting into an Audi soon
Hello all. My name is Chris (don't laugh at the user name as it was the first thing that came to mine lol) and I'm located just outside Washington DC in Northern VA. I'm an avid car enthusiast, especially interested in turbocharged systems. I currently own a 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX (2.0L AWD 16v turbo) and have had the car for a little over 3 years. It has been a project to say the least but has made me quite the mechanic and the car was very quick for the amount money spent. I have since decided to return the car to stock form and sell the car, as well as all the performance parts to hopefully come up with around $5k to put toward a B5 Audi A4. I have a friend with a 2000 A4 quattro with 95k miles who may be willing to cut me a deal at $6k. My first question is what should I look for as for flaws in the A4? Any mechanical issues or tidbits I should pay attention to? I've checked out the TSB's and there seem to be no recalls. I've heard these cars are known for electrical problems, but so far he has had none. I've done a decent bit of research and pulled up some archived articles from Motor Trend and Road&Track, both of whom raved about the A4 when compared to similar BMW 3 series and Mercedes C-class models. I'm a 21 year old college student studying Electrical Engineering and I've reached a point in my life where I want something a little more classy and luxurious, yet still affordable to someone on a budget. I appreciate any comments in advance, and I look forward to learning alot about VW/Audi's here at this site. My days of Mitsubishi 4G63's are not over, but I look forward to venturing into the German way and seeing how the two compare/contrast. Thank you.
