Just bought my first Audi
I just purchased a 1998 Audi A4. It is a 2.8L Quattro with a 5spd manual. The car is silver with the 7 spoke, 16" wheels, and it has 112,xxx miles. I am pretty excited about this car...it handeled nicely and the power was sufficient during the test drive. It will be the first Audi I've owned, and i was very impressed with the interior. Even though the car is going to be 8 years old soon, the body is in very nice condition with only a few small surface scratches (that must be expected on a used car...nothing noticeable) and the interior is in excellent shape. The black leather seats show little wear and they have no rips. I hope that this Audi community is very fun and I can learn a lot. My first question is actually about the sound system in this car. I was going to change the radio and sound system, however when i saw how nice it flowed with the dash, i decided that I would not touch it. When I cranked the volume...I was taken away by the sound. It sounded better than some aftermarket system's i've heard. The clarity was awesome, and the power was more than enough. It has a 6 disk changer in the trunk, and i was just wondering how i could tell if this was the Bose system or not? I do not have the car in my possession at this moment (didn't pick it up yet) so I cannot check to see if it says Bose anywhere. However, it did have 2 front tweeters, speakers in the doors, and 2 rear deck speakers, if that helps any. Any help would be great.

Hey welcome to the forum. Take a look in the trunk. If it is bose you will see a rank mounted amp on the drivers side. I'm sure you'll love you Audi. Welcome to the family.
when you first turn the key to the on position, you're radio will display "bose" for a couple seconds. you probably do have bose, as the non-bose system is not very good at all. i have bose and the only thing i'll be modifying is the addition of a subwoofer...other than that, i think it's perfect. oh, and welcome to the forums!
Thanks for the warm welcomes. I would say i'm 99% sure that it is the bose system, but I will find out for sure when I pick it up tomorrow. I just had the radio on during the test drive and the sound of that was awesome. I was thinking about an aftermarket HU, but I don't think it is worth the hassle because it would need a different wiring harness and it would not flow with the look of the dash. I am still kicking around the thought of a subwoofer but I'm not sure how easy it is to get out the radio now to install it. Thanks for the info
