Hey whats up guys, im Mark. Im new to audi forums and i just got an 01 1.8 T quattro. I want to make it fast, but I really want to do it the proper way after the air intake and exhaust... any advice would be appreciated.. thanks

Welcome to the forums.

First thing you need to do is get a budget. Otherwise, I guarantee it will get out of hand.

The 3 best mods for starting out are:
1- Diverter Valve. Once you start getting more power, it will fail. There's plenty of choices around. Anywhere from $30-$150.
2- Chip. APR or GIAC are the most favored around here. About $500. As for picking one or the other. Go with the nearest dealer. That way if you have any problems, you can take it to them.
3- Exhaust. APR, Borla, Miltek, and a few others are out there. $600 and up for a cat back. Make sure a dowmpipe is included. If you have any questions about a specific brand, just ask.

Do not get a BOV or cold air intake. The BOV will damage your cat and cause some other problems. The cold air intake will suck in hot air from your engine bay.

I'd say get some new wheels drop that bad boy and some tint.

 

does the diverter valve do anything as fas as power? or is it just to prevent problems?

 

That's a question that should be asked in the general tech setion.

Since you're already here though, the diverter valve just reroutes the excess turbo pressure. If the stock one breaks, you will constantly lose boost pressure.

 

Welcome to the forums, get ready to spend some money! Wheels and Tint are a hell of a start. That's what I'm going for, then mods when the warrenty runs out. If you have a warrenty, be careful not to void it out.
