Just purchased A6
Hello, everyone, I just became the owner of a 2001 pearl white A6 2.7T-loaded with options. It has 26,000 miles and I am having my local Audi dealer give it a check over on Thursday. Are their any specific areas i should have him focus on? Was '01 a good year? It's a beautiful car and I am very happy with my purchase. Unfortuneatly, I don't have the owner's manual so I don't know how half the gizmos on the inside work, but the dealership I bought it from (not Audi) is supposed to be getting me one. Just out of curiosity what does the Audi manufacturer's warranty cover? Mine's a late model 01 so if i'm understanding it correctly I should have about a year and 24,000 miles left. However, I can't find anything on Audi's website that tells what's covered. Any help, greatly appreciated.

For starters, have the following checked for wear and possible replacement:
The DV's
The TBB
The coolant sensor switch (this should be replaced with the latest OE unit anyway (it's only ~$5 and you can do the R&R youurself in less than 5 minutes)
Also... have the control arms checked - Audi control arms are notorious for needing constant attention.
Good luck!

Hey Matt, welcome to the forums. Hope you like it here. Nice ride. The dealer should be able give you the scoop on the warranty. They should get you a manual too. At least with mine the warranty was 50,000 with all scheduled and unscheduled maintenence covered to that point. What did your A6 replace?
I had a 1989 Thunderbird SC, chipped and performance pulley on the supercharger. I loved the car but no traction control, Nebraska winters, not practical with a wife and 3 yr old. But I got plenty with it back in the early 90's while in college. Which leads me to ask: I don't hear any whine that I would associate with the turbos kicking in when I step on the gas with the Audi. Is that normal? My T-bird sounded like a jet taking off and I don't get much feedback from the A6. Also it sucks that there's no gauge to show me my boost. New to the car don't know what's normal or not. BTW, I read another guys post about finding his manual under the steering column, guess what, that's where mine was (moron). So now I got my books. Car's in for routine service and inspection today.
FWIW, Don't equate the sound and feel of your SUPERCHARGED T-Bird with the TURBOCHARGED Audi - Supercharged vehicles are known for their signature whine. The boost response is more linear, but also noisier.
Glad you were able to avoid the problem with the manuals that I had....Yup, that was me.

Thanks for the info and helping me find my manuals. Does anyone know how to change out the coolant sensor? Audi wanted $100.00 to do it parts and labor. Heard it was a $5 part and easy to do.
