Default Just purchased a project Northern NJ

Hello Audi Forum,

Just checking in, I am sure I will be using this forum as a resource in the up coming month. I just purchases a 1996 A6 2.8 quattro that experienced an overheat and lost compression. I intend on taking the heads off, having them machined if necessary and put in all new gaskets etc. This will be my winter car, my other vehicle is a 2000 WS6 Transam, not a very good winter car.

I look forward to getting this car going and throwing some snow tires on it!

if it lost compression chances are it blew the gaskets. and if it blew the gaskets, make sure the block itself isnt damaged. but i do love your other car =) ive always wanted one but im stuck with a 98 ram 1/2 ton and 87 chevy blazer thats ready to kick the bucket any minute and hopefully a 91 quattro 90 20v lol

but post some pictures of your ws6 id love to have the chance to own one of those :P

I am counting on doing the head gaskets and probably having to get the heads milled. I will replace the timing belt etc. while I am in there. I understand that the block is iron so I cant imagine that it will be warped.

As for my TA I love the car. I drive the crap out of it and it has never given me problems. I just make sure I stay on top of the maintenance. I hope to be buried on this car. I've attached pics from an autocross I competed in with the car a few years ago at Giants stadium. enjoy
