Hi everyone, thanks for all the information. All my lurking led me away from a 540i, and into a 2000 A6 2.7T tiptronic. It is an amazing car, but now I want to mod it more. It came fully loaded by someone who really took pride in his car. He modded it very tastefully (chip/catback/rims/suspension/radar). I took by wife to pick it up yesterday, and she loves it. I also got it for what I thought was a steal (13.9k) He also drove it only 7500 miles in the last year, and has reciepts for everything. Again, thanks for all of you for all the good tips, and selling me into an Audi!

those 2.7t's can get some good numbers with a chip...

an extra 60 hp, and 110 ft/lbs that puts you at 318hp, and 382ft/lbs
