Hi I'm new here. I have a bmw e30 as well as subaru wrx and I'm an active member on forums for those respective cars. I'm considering selling the subaru to pick up two avants, one for me and one for the wife.

I wanted to know the general problems to look for. One is a 98 a4 avant 2.8 manual with 166k miles on it and the other is a 99 avant 2.8 with 125k on it. How long do these engines generally last and what are some of the major problems to look for. I generally want to know what to expect. I don't know much about audis and I'm here to learn. I'm pretty mechanically inclined and do work on my own cars so techincal stuff is fine with me. I just want to make sure that I'm not gonna regret it.

I would repost your questions on the b5 a4 board. I don't know that much about the 2.8 motor.
