Default New Audi Owner

Hello everyone. I just swapped out my Maxima for a 96 A4 2.8 quattro. And I love it already. The German quality is just so much superior and it drives great. And I love having a 5 speed again instead of my automatic. My only complaint is that my wife's Land Rover is in the shop and we are having to share my new car....I can only imagine what she is doing to my clutch right now as she is out running errands.
I have a question about my key fob. Can I reprogram a 2 or 3 button blade key to work with my car. My car has the separate key fob and I would like to have just the one item on the keychain. Does the 96 have the immobilizer function of newer audis? If it doesn't maybe I could disassemble a key fob and a blade key and make one working blade key. Any help or links to any other threads about this issue or reprograming the key fob (not the blade key) would be appreciated.
