New guy that is Audi stupid.....
I am a hardcore mustang guy that is considering an audi for a daily driver. I commute 100 miles a day that is 90% highway. I am mostly looking at the awd A4 with the turbo motor. I have had several of the svo mustangs and really love the turbo fun factor. The 97 -2000 models seem to be in my price range for a car that will get 40k milesa year and will most likely be bought with about 100k miles already on it.
I am not stuck on the A4 model. If an A3 or A6 comes along with a great deal that could be a possibility. I will be wearing out the search function, but if anyone has any advise or links to my questions, it would be greatly appreciated.
My searching will be for
1. gas milage
2. problem models or options
3. tips and tricks
4. parts availability and cost.
5. people that love certain models and why.
thanks
Tim

I myself am a newbie to the Audi. I purchased mine like a week ago. It is a 2001Audi A4 1.8t AWD 5 speed manual. Before I purchased, I did a little searching for reviews and found that endmunds has the best place for specs and reviews on automobiles. I was originally planning on getting a 99 Acura 2.3 cl as that too is a 4 cylinder as we all know gas prices are outrageous. But since I got the vehicle, I absolutely adore it. But have only owned it for a week or so, so by the standards of Murphy's Law I will be biting my own tongue in no time. The maintanance I am told is something that is the thing that will kill your pockets, but was also told to just make sure you change the oil regularly (synthetic is recommended every 5,000 miles), filters, etc. And don't beat on it like it won't cost a lot of money if repairs are needed. The parts are fairly priced, but the labor is where they get you. Seeing how it is German engineered. These cars are great for fine tuning and the exterior is all up to imagination. And the amount of dough you are willing to dish out. I bought mine with 107k for $7,700 with no doc fees, title fees, etc. Just state taxes that are non negotiable if bought from a dealer (I think). I caught myself a great deal as I see this same vehicle with like 150k sell for prices like $8,000+. I will place link to the specs and reviews from edmunds, but the ones on this forum seem to give great advice as to keep the vehicles healthy. And not to mention the tuning help. I plan on adding ECU chip, cat back exaust system, and sway bars. But will also have to replace something else for the new ECU. I have not done anything yet. Just ordered some rain guards and will tint the windows in like 2 weeks or so. Then place the black projector lights with xenon bulbs as I have the yelloy stock headlights. It has Bose stereo so I will just throw some speakers in trunk. Then it is off to fine tuning. Mine comes with standard 170 hp and after mods will probably be around 210-215 (hoping anyways). Well ,that is about it for now. Peace!
