New-to-me '02 A6 4.2
Just wanted to drop in to say "HI!" to everyone here in AudiLand. I just bought a beautiful silver '02 A6 4.2 Quattro this weekend w/ about 56k on the clock. I come from a pretty eclectic background of cars, but mostly American muscle cars. My wife has had a couple of Mercedes (currently '06 C230 sport sedan), so I have developed a fondness for fine German automobiles.
I was looking for something that was a good blend of power, luxury and practicality & the 4.2 seems to fit the bill quite well so far. Of course, I can never leave anything stock and already have dreams of intake, exhaust and ECU tuning upgrades. In buying the 4.2, I realized that the 2.7T has a lot more tuning options being a turbo engine, but I am a sucker for V8's given my background and wanted to have something that was uber-luxurious but could also provide the eight cylinder soundtrack I have grown to love so much. Plus, in researching this model, it seemed that the vast majority of reliability issues were with the V6 models, whereas the 4.2 did not have any noteable issues.
In my short tenure as an A6 4.2 owner, I have found very little in the way of minor bolt-on mods such as the aforementioned exhaust, intake and ECU tuning. I am hoping I will find my way here with the help of this forum. Again,I love the car dearly so far and I am looking forward to a long and happy stay.
Thanks & cheers![sm=icon_cheers.gif]

Thank you for the warm welcome, Kriptonik! Here is a pic I took today after work with my phone - sorry it is not the greatest.
Thanks again & cheers![sm=icon_cheers.gif]

Thanks, Colin - I appreciate the compliment! I said it was silver, but it actually has a very light blue hue to the silver. Not sure what Audi calls it, but everyone has had good things to say so far.
Thanks again - cheers! [sm=icon_cheers.gif]
