Hallo from Germany. Just joined to read about aging Audi A4s since mine is from 99. Over here you see Audi s everywhere, along with BMWs and Mercedes of course. It's their GM,Ford and Chrysler; come to think of it, they own half of our home grown auto industry too.

We are a 2 Audi family with the new one from 2004. This one runs the autobahns very well, even without breaking the 230 HP mark.

Welcome from a Down Under member.

You call your 1999 A4, "aging" ? Here in Australia the average age of cars on the road is older than most "western" countries, I guess as our climate is hot and mild and they weather better than in Europe and North America.

I bet driving on those Autobahns is a high speed experience

Where are you located? I've been living just South of Stuttgart for awhile, judging from your screen name we might be neighbors.

Was stationed in Ansbach back in 86-89 with the US Army! Are you German or American living abroad, mate?

The Germans don't drive old car as much as others do, that is why the 99 feels old. It's driving great and I am not interested in replacing it yet. I am an American abroad, in Stuttgart-Mohringen. Right next to Mercedes HQ.

I must admit that the autobahns are a treat. But even my 220 HP A4 can't keep up with the most recent models. 180-200 km/hr is often seen in selected areas.

Copterdoc, have you gone to an Audi shop that you like in the Stuttgart area?

Appreciate your comments.

In fact I have.

Autohaus Lutz KG
Vaihinger Str. 91
70567 Stuttgart (Möhringen)

Talk to Joseph Steinborn, phone 0711 716 0442 to set up an appointment (usually they won't get you in for at least a week). He speaks English and has done some good work on our cars. Call around 7:30 AM, all other time's he's out working. This place is about 1 KM down Vaihinger Str. from you on the left, they do good work.

Warning, whatever they do is going to be EXPENSIVE! We're paying between 150-200 Euros just for services, but you're going to get that at any dealer in Germany.
