New member review of 05 A6 ( C6 )
Hello all and thanks for having me. I have recently purchased an 05 A6 3.2 78k miles. I have all of the service history and car has had ALL recommended maint. performed. I have owned between 15- and 20 cars throughout my life. MBs Audis Bmws Acura and Lincolns. I love cars and all my reading revolves around cars. Here is my review of my 2005 A6 3.2. Strap your seat belt and enjoy the ride.
First off the first word that comes to mind when this " garbage " I have never been more sorry about buying a car. I traded in my 2005 Lincoln Aviator because of the horrible gas mileage I got. The Audi I will say gets very good mileage for being an AWD heavy Vehicle. First let me give the good points of this car. It is by most everyone's accounts, a beautiful car. Interior is second to none, and the all wheel drive is the best of any car. So that's about it for the good points. For a 50k car these things should be better. The " premium " surround sound Bose sounds worse than the Bose in my 1997 Maxima. It is a muffled underpowered system that lacks high range ability, and crisp clean notes. The suspension is more like a 1974 Bronco than it is a Bmw 5 series sedan. It is bumpy, harsh, loud, and loose at high speed turns. I experience understeer, and oversteer, even with brand new Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires. The Accelerator lag when first starting off becomes tiresome after five minutes, and is a chore to really drive. The brakes are ridiculously sensitive, but do work well braking at high speeds. The steering is numb and unresponsive, and his really no fun to drive at all.
The engine is lacking punch at high speed passing maneuvers, but for averaging 25 miles a gallon, it is ok. Really this has become one of the most disappointing German car I have ever owned. Give me my 1990 300E back, and I will be happy. Why, I just starting experiencing the true character of this car, and I am really bummed about the purchase. OHH yeah, I forgot to mention I am now experiencing the " hot air out of the side vent problem" and will need to get it fixed. This is along with the bad left rear and right front control arm bushings. I am now reading that plugs need to be replaced every 30-40k miles? Really? Is Audi serious. Anyone want to buy an A6?
