New owner with a question re: dealer
Hi all -
Purchased a 2009 A4 2.0 with 30k miles yesterday. I'm excited to own the car but hit a bit of a snag that I'd like your opinion on.
When test-driving the car I noticed that the low tire pressure light was on. After the test drive they put some air in it, we drove it again, and it seemed fine. They told me that there was a slow leak they found and that i'd need to bring it back to have the leak repaired because the service dept was closed but the leak was small enough that it shoudl be fine for a week or so. We ended up purchasing the car, and when we went out to drive it home...the tire was flat.
So it was a bummer to buy a car and then not be able to take it but we left it there and were told it would be ready first thing this morning, and then this morning they told me they'd replace the tire rather than fix the leak. I asked if they would be replacing two tires since i've heard that it's not good to only replace one but they are only doing one. And since they are replacing it, I may not be able to get the car today, might be tomorrow since they had to order the tire.
so my questions for you are:
1. Should I ask the dealer for some compensation for this hassle?
2. Is it not good for the vehicle to replace only one tire, if they get the exact same tire to match it and also rotate to try to align tread?
Thanks for your help. I'm excited to get my a4....when i FINALLY get it!

Hey,
I wouldn't imagine the dealer is going to give you much back considering they are offering to replace the tyre for new.
The tyre should be fine,if it's like for like, but if you get some pull, maybe you should at lest expect them to to track it for you..

Thanks for the reply, Sonic. I actually bitched and moaned enough that they ended up giving me a full set of 4 new tires (falken ze912) - excellent service by them. I imagine my purchase of the extended warranty helped.
