Default Our first Audi

Hello. My wife just picked up a used 2001 A6 2.8 with 92K miles. Hope to post some pics soon! Never owned an Audi before but we have a few Mercedes so hopefully it won't be too different.
Private seller wanted $8300 and I wanted to offer $7500 but after some negotiating we settled on $7800. Car is rust free and all buttons work. So far only things that need replacing is the silver part around the shifter is all puck marked up. Also the digital display near the speedo has lines going through it. Gonna have to search the forum on how to replace these!
Thanks!

Wilkommen to the forums

Be sure to spend some time looking around in the A6 section. The cluster display problem is common in Audis of our vintage. There is a DIY for a rebuild but my understanding is that it requires some MAD soldering skillz. Best bet is a rebuild. Check module master.

The shifter surround is a pretty simple pop the old one out. Drop the new one in. I don't remember if there are screws or not

Good luck

Thanks! I don't think I will be able to replace the digital display in the cluster on my own and I was told it would cost at least $1000 from the dealership so thats out of the question. As far as the shifter plate, hard to find a nice one on eBay. They all seem just as marked up as the one we have. lol
