Default Questions I have gathered

ok ive been lurking on here for a few months now, and i have gathered a few questions i would like to know the answer for for easier comprehension.

1) What does pre facelift, facelift mean?
2)What does the Acronym BT mean?
3)The whole "lowering your car thing" - can you just run shocks with stock springs? can you run stock springs with aftermarket shocks? Whats a strut do? and do i need to do that to lower my car?
4)If i chip my car, do i have to go to a dealer or mechanic for them to put it in? or can i just wire it myself?

1) pre facelift and facelift is when audi updated the look of the models. ex.: prefacelift a4's have 2 piece headlights, while the facelift have one piece. and the prefacelift have yellow squarish side markers while facelift have more rectangular clear ones.
2)BT is big turbo.
3) you can run aftermarket shocks with stock springs, but ur not gonna get lowered by doing that. shorter springs are what lowers your cars. a strut is what controls the dampening of the suspension. to lower your car, in theory, you need sport or racing springs. but you need to upgrade your struts as well because the stock struts are built to run at stock load, not the shorter, "heavier" load. by preloading them, you give added stress, and wear them out pretty quick.
4) dont know much about chipping, im a 2.8 guy .

cool, thanks a lot for your help.
So is it just your best bet to get both, Like Neuspeed shocks and springs and stuff, or does it just depend on how much your willing to spend?

well if you want to buy new stock struts every 6 months or so (maybe less?) and have lowered springs, u dont need both. if you want it to last, get both, or get coilovers. if not deal with your wheel gap .

edit: my guesstimate of the durability of stock struts with lowered springs is with being driven on streets like the city i live in. think new york city, with parts that are worse. they will last that long in these conditions.

Yeah it's whatever, I live in a suburb type area, a rural suburb, if you will

My goal is for it to not look dumb when i put my 18's on it. Oh yeah, does the suspension play any into rims you have? like just regular 18 inch rims.

shouldnt if they're properly spaced and not 12 inches wide. keeping it within 9 inches should be fine. 18's should be fine in terms of gap.

Nice, I work at a car audio shop, putting in systems, re wiring, troubleshooting and stuff, its a complicated job, but what else is a 16 year old better to do lol.

If you have any questions about the audio system, feel free to ask me anytime.
