Talking Soon :)

Well 90% sure on a 98 a4 with 120,000 on the odo. 1 owner for $3,900. I know its a little early to post but its looking good . Only downside is that the timing belt was replaced in 02 at 65k so I need to replace that pretty soon. Oh coming from a an 05 Saab 9-3... .... ....... They are going to hate me over there lol.

Congrats! If I were you, I'd get the timing belt changed right away if you do decide to buy it. I was in the same situation as you. Bought the car and changed the timing belt immediately.

Thanks . Well the dealer would only come down to $3,700 and they just brought it back from auction. They have had the car since Oct and it still didn't sell at the auction so I thought that now it's time to wheel and deal and I guess not. He told me take it or leave it lol. Geesh. The rear bumper is a little messed up (scratches) but the rest of the car looks good. I was quoted around $1,000 for the timing belt job and everything that goes with it. My buddy works on cars pretty well and he said he "should" be able to do the job with the right manuals and tools so...........I drive an hour to work so I think the 1.8tq is the way to go compared to the 2.8. After reading on the boards the 2.8 scares me a little with the gas mileage.

$1000 for the timing belt seems a bit steep. Our mechanic would have done it on mine for $800, but we got a dealer to do it for $400.

It seems strange to me, that for an A4 with one previous owner at that low of a price hasn't been sold since Oct. You check out CarFax or anything?

Well the Audi indie mechanic did say $800 to a $1,000 and he just said might as well say a grand.

Yep ran the carfax and it was one owner and took the car to one dealer for everything. I had an unfortunate time talking to the owner yesterday. He was horrible towards me and told me to forget it when I offered $3,500 and I was ready to give him a $500 deposit right then. Not sure If I even want to give them the $3,700 now. I kind of hung up on him lol. Heck he might not even honor it now.

That sounds messed up on their part. I bought mine from a dealer though, so it was a smooth transaction. Good luck with it, if you still decide to go through with it.

They're fun cars for the money if you ask me. :P

So I call today and now it's sold lol. For some reason I don't believe it. I am pretty ticked to say the least. I need an A4 before next weekend.... and I'm picky lol.

Well finally found another one. 97 quattro with 96k miles on it. Black on black stick with the 2.8. Recent belts including timing with all the fluids replaced and new pads and rotors. Had an oil leak as well from the valve cover and that is fixed and the car is in really good shape. Comes with a warranty as well. $4,700.
Will have pics up next week when I drive the long trip to get her .

Oh and should I pick up a vag tool and anything else for the future?

Well drove back from Virginia yesterday. What a car. Very impressed for it being a 97. Couple things I found wrong though that I missed. The cruise lol. Ugh...700 miles back and no cruise. So must be the switch or the module I'm guessing. The drivers door lock does not unlock very well or lock any doors. Switch as well. Reverse seems to be a PITA to get into. I sat for a while trying to back out. Just could not find it. I drove a bimmer and I'm used to sticks but damn lol. Other than that it's perfect .
