Default Vehicle maintanace records?

Just recently bought a 2000 s4 love the car should have bought one a while ago! anyway i bought it from a dealer who got it from another dealership who took it in on trade. So the biggest question is if the timing belt has been replaced. It has 120,000 miles and i would have hoped it was replaced and having difficulty knowing if it has. Is there any way to do a check somehow with the vin to check service history?

Default RE: Vehicle maintanace records?

adamd2000s4,

Welcome to the forums!IIRC when I carfaxed before I purchased my car it explained all sorts of maintenances that were performed early on, but only because they logged the dealer logged the maintenance by its VIN. After about 40k mile it appeared that no maintenances were logged or no maintenances were performed.

Looking over the carfax again may help if it has logged anything about the timing belt. That is one way. I imagine an Audi dealer could pull up the service history performed at the dealership, but if it was performed somewhere else they won't have it.

This is the only thing I can think of if you don't have the actual records. Try posting a message in the S4 forum as the veterans there may have some insight into your S4 specifically.

Good luck!
