About 3 years ago, I purchased a VW Phaeton 3.0 TD V6. At 30,000 miles, the water pump collapsed and I was transported to the nearest garage, a new pump was fitted, and I was charged £790. To cut a long story short, we are going to court to settle the dispute. I am suing under the 'Sale of Goods Act 1979' and claiming that the pump was not of satisfactory quality, and unfit for purpose. Someone has just told me that there are similar problems with the same water pump fitted to the same engine, but in an Audi. Please can anyone tell me anything about this. Any useful information will be very much appreciated.
